Follow these emergency steps in order. If at any point you feel unsafe, evacuate and call for help immediately.
Safety First
If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, or see sparks, evacuate immediately and call 911. Do not attempt to operate your system if you suspect a safety issue.
Turn off the Furnace and wait 5 minutes for any unburned gas to disperse
Listen for the spark ignitor clicking when the Furnace calls for heat
Inspect the Furnace spark electrode for cracks or carbon buildup
Verify the Furnace spark electrode gap is within manufacturer specifications
Call for Furnace service if the spark ignition continues to fail
