6 Emergency Steps

Follow these emergency steps in order. If at any point you feel unsafe, evacuate and call for help immediately.

Safety First

If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, or see sparks, evacuate immediately and call 911. Do not attempt to operate your system if you suspect a safety issue.

Check that your Furnace thermostat is set to HEAT mode and the temperature is set above room temperature

Verify the Furnace has power by checking the switch and circuit breaker

Inspect the Furnace air filter and replace if dirty as restricted airflow can cause shutdown

Check if the Furnace pilot light is on or if ignition system is attempting to fire

Look at the Furnace for any error codes displayed on the control board or thermostat

If the Furnace still won't produce heat, call for emergency service immediately
