Safety First
If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, or see sparks, evacuate immediately and call 911. Do not attempt to operate your system if you suspect a safety issue.
Turn off your Furnace to prevent additional ice accumulation
Check the Furnace defrost thermostat for proper connection and operation
Verify the Furnace defrost control board is receiving power
Manually initiate Furnace defrost cycle if your unit has a manual defrost mode
Call for Furnace service if the defrost cycle does not operate automatically
